Media Transmission Type and explanation network
Media Transmission
Directed Media (Guided Transmission Data) A medium used to transmit data, where the midpoint of one with the other end is clear, for example, cable.
Coaxial
Data cable using copper material where there are 2 parts:
- core cable in the middle
- fiber cable side by side with
The twisted cable types according to the protector are divided into:
- Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP)
- Shielded Twisted Pair (STP)
- Screened Shielded Twisted Pair (S/STP)
Fiber Optic
type of cable this one does not use copper (copper), the release of the optical fiber. Where the signal is streamed. Be able to transmit more bandwidth. Widely used for communication between Backbone, LAN with high speed.

This cable uses the Bayonet Nut Connector (BNC) connector
Twisted Pair
Twisted Pair (Twisted Pair) cable, using paired cables where the purpose is to remove the crosstalk effect. Widely used for LAN networks, because it is able to transmit bandwidth by a large amount.

This cable uses the serial Connector Registered Jack (RJ), and depending on the type of category. For category 2 use RJ11 while for category 5 and above use RJ45.

- Screened Unshielded Twisted Pair (S/UTP) / Foiled Twisted Pair (FTP)
For cable installation follow the rules TIA / EIA-586-A / B
If both ends use the same rule, the cable is called Straight Through, whereas different is called Cross-Over.Fiber Optic
type of cable this one does not use copper (copper), the release of the optical fiber. Where the signal is streamed. Be able to transmit more bandwidth. Widely used for communication between Backbone, LAN with high speed.

Based on the number of incoming light sources at the FO core, the FO cable is divided into 2:
- Multimode, a number of sources more than 1. Using core diameters of 50
-micron size
- 100 micron - Singlemode, number of sources 1. Using core diameter of size 2 - 8 microns
